Mish-mash

I know it's been a while. Busy, eh. Anyway....

**********

Pikon ako. Last night, we were on Skype. May kausap yung mga bata, but I don't want to say who. Bwiset. If there is anything I will never, never do to anybody, most of all to my kids, is to say one is better than the other.

After a couple of hours, tinatanong na ako ng magaling kong asawa. I tried forcing her before, lalo lang siyang umaayaw. Tsaka ano ba kako? Are they implying bobo anak ko? Hindi lang kako ako mayabang, but the school is actually telling me how easy it is to teach her and that she's a fast learner. And I realize, A is not D. They have different personalities. I acknowledge that D learned stuff early. At A's age, D was reading by herself. Heck, at NA's age, D was doing addition! But kids have their own pace at learning things. And I am not worried. If only they will converse with A, they'll know she's smart. And I am not saying that just because I am the mother.

Disappointed lang ako at naturingang teacher yun, and yet she doesn't realize that children have different personalities and learning styles.

**********

Anyway, kabata-bata pa nitong batang to, marunong nang mang-bribe. May ipinapakuha akong gamit nya nung isang araw, hindi nya makita. Sabi sa akin, "where is it?" Sabi ko, "hanapin mo!" Hindi ko napansin, binalikan pala ako. Sabi sa akin, "Can you please help me look for it?" Sabi sa akin, "I will give you money if you help me look for it." Nyehehe.

I don't think she knows she has been bribing already.

**********

Ang sagot: "We're not jumping!"

**********

Ok. Kwentong corrupt na naman.

I recently had my teeth done. Na-root canal. What is really annoying is that I know I need to have another tooth done. Ang lalo pang nakakabwisit, both teeth has fillings that were replaced just recently. Dun sa isa pa naming dentist. Ang problema, I have a hunch she purposely did the fillings wrong para ma-root canal na nga. But her post-op recommendation included monitoring the tooth for pain at i-r-root canal na nga daw. Ang surprising pa, after a week, tine-text ako, hindi pa daw ba sumasakit? Hmmm.

And then my teeth. When she was doing my fillings, she did something that, in school, we were instructed NEVER to do. Nagulat ako, but I said nothing. And take note, alam nya background ko, so that really surprised me. Since she did my filling, my tooth was always sensitive. As in hindi na ako nakakainom ng malamig without a straw dahil nangingilo talaga. On my birthday, nag-iba yung pain. Hindi na siya mangilo, but there was a dull pain on my cheek. Patay na. I told the new dentist, and she asked me what I thought. Sabi ko, wala na. Root canal na to. E di root canal na nga. Nakakainis lang talaga. Kamag-anak pa mandin.

Haha. Yun na.

Small World

So, in one of my classes, I meet this girl (AA) who had the same last name as one of my friends. They used to live in the same area in Manila, so I asked if they knew each other. They did -- said they went to the same high school, but that they weren't related. Small world? It gets smaller still.

AA said she went to the same university I did, but she shifted to a different campus and a different college. I said I knew a couple of people from that college, but she said she doesn't remember some of the names anymore. So, off the top of my head, I drop one of my best bud's name, RV, and my cousin, VV. AA said the names are familiar and that VV is related to them, maternally. Idiot me. I assumed, of course, that she meant her mom and VV's mom are related so I asked. She said she didn't know about that but that they were related to VV's dad. Ha. VV's dad is my mom's brother. So I told her that, and she said that Dr. V is her godfather. I asked which Dr. V -- Tito J or Tito D, because Tito D is my godfather as well. Turns out we even share the same godfather. She asks me then my mom's name and it turns out that our moms are first cousins! And I thought I have met all my mom's relatives!

Para tuloy akong nasa Parent Trap.

Update (5/4/08 22:40): Have talked with my aunt, and hindi pala moms namin ang first cousins. Sabi ng aunt ko, it was our grandmothers who were cousins but AA's side of the family were really close to my mom's family because they lived in my grandparents' house during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines. My aunt was pleasantly surprised and she said that the families used to be really close, having grown up together. Still, it isn't too late to foster relationships.
