Confused

To start off, I am not homophobic. I have more than a few friends and I have no issues with them. And I probably hadn't said it before, but my SIL is a BIL.

It had been the family joke ever since. The young kids in the family, after being conscious of genders, always had a hard time distinguishing whether SIL is a boy or a girl. They would get it right all the time -- except when it came to SIL. I didn't think it was an issue. All the kids were all less than 5 years old at the time.

A couple of days ago was SIL's birthday. So we gave her a call so the kids can greet her a happy birthday. After we put the phone down, I overheard the girls talking. D said something and referred to SIL as he. I called her attention and asked her again. She said he. I asked why. She said, because he's a boy. I asked if she was sure, she just shrugged her shoulders.

I really didn't pay any concern to it before, but now I realize, it must have been really confusing.

Spam

I don't like spam. In fact, I hate spam. Spam emails, that is.

Usually, they go straight to the junk mail box, but somehow, every once in a while, there are stragglers that slip into my inbox. Now, I really don't read those spam emails; I just delete them right away. But a while back, I got one which got me laughing really hard. It was a pity, though. Because of force of habit, I wasn't able to keep a copy of that email, so I have nothing to show for.

Anyway, it is one of those emails advertising male endowment products. Nothing out of the usual, except for the unique phrasing of the "ad" itself. Something about not wanting to look like a "young Filipino boy." I kid you not. I have been looking for a copy of that, but no luck since.

P.S. Should anybody encounter a copy of that, would you mind sharing?

Jedi Power

You know the automatic doors to establishments with motion sensors? We have long convinced the girls that we use Jedi Powers to open them. Yeah, I know. Geeky.

But the girls really are convinced. One time, we encountered a door with a very low sensitivity sensor and would not open until we got really close. A was convinced her Jedi Powers were running out! The solution was simple, though. We rubbed her hands so some of our Jedi powers would rub off on her. And she bought it!

And the Jedi Mind Trick? Hubby would do it on anyone, for the sake of fun. I didn't realize how much the girls have picked up on it until yesterday.

They were sharing a snack after school. D was holding on to the packet and A wanted some more. In response to A's asking, D did the Jedi Mind Trick on her, sliding her hands in the air in the front of A's face while at the same time telling her, "You don't want any." A's response: She did the Jedi Mind Trick on D, saying, "Yes, I do!"
